
Chase Choate
Chase is an enrolled member of the Ft. Yuma Quechan Tribe, as well as being of Mojave and Choctaw descent. Chase graduated from Humboldt State University in 2002 with a B.S. in wildlife management. His work has inculded spotted owl surveys, black bear telemetry, biological control technician (entomology), avian spot counts and wildland firefighting.
Chase has worked with many tribal agencies such as Hoopa Tribal Forestry in Hoopa California., Rocky Mountain Bureau of Indian Affairs in Billings Montana., and Spokane Tribe of Indians in Wellpinit, Washington. In the winter of 2005-2006, Chase was dispatched to assist in the Oklahoma winter fires with the Comanche Tribal Firefighters in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Chase recently finished a four-month program through Arizona Game and Fish Department monitoring bald eagle nests on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Rezervation. The Bald Eagle Nestwatchers Program is a conservation effort to make sure bald eagle nestlings successfully fledge their nest.
Chase plans to continue his education to receive his master's degree in the biology with an emphasis in Ornithology.
